Program Overview

FUNIBER's online Spanish course offers a comprehensive curriculum aligned with the CEFR, ranging from beginner (A1-A2) to advanced (C1) levels. Self-paced and flexible, the course uses multimedia learning resources and includes an "Academic Spanish and Writing Course." FUNIBER awards certificates from UNIB upon successful completion, and scholarships are available.

Program Outline

The course is structured into several levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): A1-A2 (Elementary), B1-B2 (Intermediate), and C1 (Advanced). Each level has a specified number of work hours:

  • Elementary Level:
  • Interaction is limited to situations where the interlocutor speaks slowly and clearly.
  • A2: 60 hours - Focuses on understanding and using the language in familiar areas of experience (basic information about oneself and family, shopping, places of interest, etc.).
  • Communication is centered around simple and everyday tasks requiring simple and direct information exchange. Describing aspects of one's past and environment related to immediate needs is also covered.
  • Intermediate Level:
  • B1: 120 hours - Focuses on understanding main topics of clear texts in standard language related to work, study, or leisure.
  • The ability to perform well in most travel situations is emphasized. Producing simple and coherent texts on familiar or interesting topics is also a goal.
  • B2: 120 hours - Focuses on understanding main ideas in difficult texts dealing with concrete and abstract topics, including technical subjects within one's field of expertise.
  • Fluent and natural interaction with native speakers is a key objective. Writing clear and detailed texts on diverse topics and supporting viewpoints on general topics are also covered.
  • Advanced Level:
  • C1: 120 hours - Focuses on understanding a wide variety of extensive and demanding texts, including implicit meanings.
  • Fluent and spontaneous expression without noticeable effort is a goal. Effective use of the language for social, academic, and professional purposes is emphasized. Writing clear, well-structured, and detailed texts on complex topics with correct use of organizational, articulation, and cohesion tools is also covered. Additionally, an "Academic Spanish and Writing Course" is mentioned, aiming to familiarize students with the tradition of writing academic texts in Spanish and improve their writing style to enable them to take university-level classes in Spanish.

Teaching:

The course is delivered online with a flexible schedule and study rate. The online campus includes internet communication tools and a monitoring system providing individualized and comprehensive reports on student progress. Multimedia learning resources are used, including interactive audio activities, integrated skills (video, recordings), online follow-ups, and pronunciation-practice activities with voice recognition technology (depending on the method). Supplementary material is provided for grammar, vocabulary, phonetics, and spelling. Sociocultural content offers insights into the diverse culture and society of Spanish-speaking countries.

Other:

The course offers several levels of Spanish, according to the CEFR: A1-A2, B1-B2, and C1. FUNIBER provides certificates issued by UNIB (International Ibero-American University) upon successful completion of the courses. The technical requirements for the online course are specified, including minimum hardware and software specifications, internet connection speed, and email address. Additional configuration is needed for voice recognition software, including a microphone and the installation of Auralog components. FUNIBER Training Scholarships are available.
