Executive Master in International Relations
Overview
The EMIR programme addresses the training needs of diplomats and professionals who work in, or aspire to work in, international, non-governmental or non-profit organisations, or in the private sector and who wish to deepen their education in international relations, current global issues and diplomatic praxis.
Programme Structure
- EMIR is structured in a modular and flexible way to accommodate time constraints of busy professionals.
- EMIR is built around 7 pillars: 5 Teaching Modules, 2 Student Group projects, and 1 Thesis.
- Students may choose to attend part or all of the programme, earning a different degree and ECTS credits relative to their involvement.

- Module 2: International Security and Diplomacy
- Module 3: Trade and Business Diplomacy
- Module 4: Diplomacy: Trends and Technology
- Module 5: Advanced Leadership Skills
EMIR Entry Requirements
- Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree from a university or its equivalent.
- Students are encouraged to discuss the course with GSD academic tutors prior to the submission of the application.
- Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years of professional working experience
- Proficiency in English is required

- Colour copy of passport photo page
- A current CV
- A motivation letter (550 words approximately)
- Transcripts and Bachelor diploma
- 2 letters of recommendation
- Proof of English language proficiency (or waiver, if applicable)
- All applicants will also be asked to participate in a brief interview, conducted by the admissions officer (online or in-person).
Tuition and Expenses
- Tuition Fee: 30,000 CHF (5 modules)
- Other Fees:
- Enrolment fee (non-refundable) CHF 500.-
- Application fee (non-refundable) CHF 300.-
- These fees do NOT include travel, living accommodation, meals, medical or health insurance and the required study trip.
