The Master of Science in Business with a major in Accounting and Business Control aims to equip students with the technical skills, theoretical knowledge, and understanding necessary to contribute to sustainable value creation in organizations. The program addresses the increasing complexity of business environments and prepares students for careers as CFOs, controllers, treasurers, or corporate managers. It provides proficiency in accounting, financial control, strategy, treasury, and forecasting. Specific knowledge areas include reporting, analysis, and presentation of historical company information; capital structures, financial risk, liquidity, and investment analysis; and strategic business analysis, modeling, scenario analysis, and valuation. The major closely follows the CIMA syllabus, allowing graduates to pursue CIMA accreditation; two pillars at CIMA’s Strategic Level are automatically recognized after completing this major. BI is the only school in the Nordic countries offering this option. The program emphasizes engaging learning experiences and quality teaching to build a solid skill and competency base relevant for the future of work.


Outline:

The program is structured across two years, each consisting of two semesters (autumn and spring). Each year comprises 60 ECTS credits.


Year 1 (60 ECTS):

  • Autumn: Microeconomics (6 ECTS), Mathematics (6 ECTS), Ethics and Sustainability in Organizations (6 ECTS), Business Analysis and Valuation (6 ECTS), Strategic Risk Analysis (6 ECTS).
  • Spring: Research Methodology in Accounting and Business Control (6 ECTS), Data Analytics with Programming (6 ECTS), Management Control (6 ECTS), Treasury Management (6 ECTS), Financial Reporting with IFRS (6 ECTS).

Year 2 (60 ECTS):

  • Autumn: Students choose one of the following: Business Electives (24 ECTS), Exchange (24 ECTS), or Internship (24 ECTS).
  • Additionally, they begin their Master thesis (6 ECTS).
  • Spring: Management Control, Performance, and Technology (6 ECTS), and the remaining portion of the Master thesis (24 ECTS).
