This BTEC Level 1 Introductory Award in Vocational Studies in Computing is a new qualification designed in response to learner feedback. Its objective is to introduce students to IT and develop their learning skills for progression to further learning, apprenticeships, or employment. The program includes a vocational qualification, a City & Guilds Employability and Personal Development Award, Maths and English components, a tutorial program, and work experience. It's designed to be motivating and offers a distinct, graded Level 1 BTEC. A uniform may be required.

The course is based on a Programme of Study consisting of:
- The BTEC Level 1 Introductory Award in Information Technology (IT) vocational qualification itself.
- A City & Guilds Employability and Personal Development Award.
- Maths and English (included in the timetable if a GCSE grade 4 or above isn't achieved in these subjects).
- A Tutorial Programme.
- Work Experience (30 hours of relevant work experience included, often in partnership with the National Citizens Service (NCS) program). Learners study three core Employability units and one sector-specific unit. Teaching methods include lectures, online modules (Moodle), group work, electronic resources, and external speakers.

The course is a full-time, one-academic-year program starting in September 2025, located at the Advanced Technology Centre. Entry requirements vary depending on the level: Level 1 requires a keen interest in IT and a minimum of 2 GCSEs at grade 2 (E) or above, or Entry level 3 qualifications with a minimum Entry 3 in Maths and English. For Level 3, there are no entry requirements beyond interest in the subject and a commitment to positive behavior and attendance.
