This Higher National Level 4 Flex – Networking program is a short course offered as part of a longer HNC program or as a standalone module. It uses blended learning, combining face-to-face and online sessions. Students will learn to configure and install hardware and software to understand networking systems. The course covers Local Area Networking (LAN), Wide Area Networking (WAN), and their evolution into large-scale networks, as well as IP data network protocols. Upon completion, students will be able to install, operate, and troubleshoot small networks, including the functioning of IP data networks, routers, switching technologies, IP routing technologies, IP services, and basic troubleshooting. The qualification gained is a Generic award - no awarding body, Non regulated provision, Level 4, ICT for Users.

The program's content includes network design and configuration, network protocols and models, and networking hardware and software. The duration is 12 weeks, starting in September 2025, and is delivered part-time at the David Hockney Building. The course is comprised of individual units, each worth 15 credits.
