Program Overview
Through a blend of classroom instruction and community-based activities, students gain practical experience in various fields, while working towards an Entry level 3 City & Guilds Employability Qualification, preparing them for further education, employment, or volunteering.
Program Outline
It aims to build confidence and develop skills in various areas to foster independence and participation in life, learning, and work. The course also welcomes students without SEND who desire a more supportive college environment. The objective is to equip students with employability skills and prepare them for their next steps, whether that be further education, employment, or volunteering. The program focuses on developing skills for employment through a mix of classroom-based and practical community activities. It includes enterprise and fundraising activities, social action projects with community groups and employer partners, and work experience through employer visits and internal college placements. A comprehensive transition tasters program with Purple Patch Arts and vocational tasters in various fields are also offered. The program incorporates enrichment activities such as residential trips, theatre visits, bowling, and outdoor adventures.

The course structure is based on a Programme of Study encompassing Employability and Personal Development skills, English and maths, a tutorial program, enrichment activities, and work experience. Specific modules include:

- Work experience Learning involves classroom-based instruction and practical activities within the community. Students participate in enterprise and fundraising activities (skills café project and seasonal fairs), social action projects with local community groups and employer partners (Canal and River Trust and Bradford City Community Foundation), and employer visits and internal work placements. The program also offers transition tasters with Purple Patch Arts and vocational tasters in areas such as hair and beauty, catering, childcare, construction, motor vehicle, horticulture, and ICT.
Assessment:
Students work towards an Entry level 3 City & Guilds Employability Qualification. Assessment involves building a portfolio of evidence through written work, practical tasks, and observations. Students also work towards meeting personal targets reviewed each term.
Teaching:
The teaching methods are a mix of classroom-based learning and practical, community-based activities.
Careers:
The program aims to prepare students for further learning, independent living, or supported employment/volunteering. Progression opportunities include supported internships with Project Search. The program helps students develop skills applicable to various vocational areas through vocational tasters.
