Program Overview


Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and extensive practical experience, graduates are prepared for careers in designing, producing, and applying state-of-the-art digital audiovisual media solutions across various industries. The program offers a wide range of elective modules, allowing students to specialize in areas such as media design, cross-media production, or acoustics and audio.

Program Outline

The program provides a foundation in scientific, technical, and informational fundamentals, along with in-depth knowledge of audio and video, virtual reality, event technology, and digital media. Students can specialize in media design or cross-media production, developing cross-disciplinary skills to contribute to digital transformation in the economy and society. The program includes a broad selection of elective modules from semester 2 onwards, allowing for individual specialization. Extensive practical elements are integrated throughout, including projects, practical training at HSD, internships, study abroad opportunities, and research semesters. Graduates can continue their studies in the consecutive three-semester Master's program in Media Informatics at HSD. The language of instruction is primarily German. The program aims to produce generalist media engineers, but also specialists in acoustics and audio, audiovisual media, virtual systems, event technologies, or digital media.


Outline:

The program spans seven semesters.

  • Semester 6: External Semester (internship semester, semester abroad, or research semester).
  • Semester 7: Individual Compulsory Elective Module (Elective Modules 4), Scientific Work Based on a Chosen Subject, Bachelor’s Thesis and Colloquium.
  • Elective modules are chosen from four lists throughout the program, allowing for customization.

Careers:

Graduates are prepared for careers designing, producing, and applying state-of-the-art digital audiovisual media solutions. Potential employers include audio or video studios, media or digital agencies, corporations, broadcasting companies, and research institutions. Graduates can work in conception and development of media solutions, project management, consulting, and sales. They can serve as the interface between informatics and audiovisual content, technology and design, and products and ergonomics.

The program offers extensive practical elements throughout all phases. The program is mainly taught in German.
