Program Overview
Rowan University's 5-year Subject Matter Education (K-12) - Theatre program combines a Bachelor of Arts with a Master of Science in Teaching. Requiring an audition for admission, the program prepares students for teaching careers in elementary, middle, and high schools, leading to New Jersey teacher certification. The program includes a year of clinical practice, or student teaching, as mandated by the state.

The program is offered in the Spring and Fall terms for international students. A minimum GPA of 2.25 is required.
Entry Requirements:
For all students (including EU and international students):
- High school transcript: A high school transcript is required. If the transcript is not in English, a certified English translation is necessary. A Foreign Credential Evaluation Report is optional.
- For Performing or Creative Arts Majors: An audition or portfolio review is required for students applying to programs in art, music, theatre, and dance.
- Transfer Students: If a student has completed 12 or more college credits at another institution, they are considered a transfer student and must submit college transcripts. If the transcripts are not in English, a certified English translation is necessary. All official transcripts are required before the semester begins. A Foreign Credential Evaluation Report is optional.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
- International students must submit proof of English language proficiency unless they are exempt. Acceptable tests include TOEFL (Rowan's code is 2515), Pearson Test of English (PTE, code is M7V), Duolingo (add Rowan University to your "My Colleges" list), and IELTS (official score reports can be verified with the TRF#).
- Students who do not meet the English proficiency requirement may be offered conditional admission and participate in Rowan's English Language Program (ELP) to improve their skills before entering university.
