The Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems with a Web Game Programming Specialization is designed to equip students with the skills to build video games using web-based technologies. It features a Tech Core curriculum with hands-on learning and real-world IoT simulations. Students will learn protocols and techniques for developing online games compatible with desktops, tablets, and smartphones. The curriculum covers game design principles, layout, controls, design, development, and characteristics of websites and multiplayer online games. Classes start May 5, 2025. The program can be completed in a minimum of 2 years and 8 months or a normal 4 years, depending on the chosen schedule.

The program's curriculum includes the following areas of study:

  • Multiplayer Online Game Development: Exploring design, development, and gameplay in multiplayer online games; learning to install, configure, and maintain game server software; deploying simple multimedia games using the server.
  • Programming Multimedia for the Web: Applying multimedia authoring tools and techniques to create web-based games and dynamic web pages; integrating and controlling multimedia assets (movie clips, sound effects, images, animations).
  • Dynamic Web Site Development and Database Integration: Designing and developing dynamic websites using CSS, database integration, server-side scripting, and large site management.
  • Creative Thinking: Developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including artistic contributions.
  • Logic and Design: Studying basic programming logic and algorithm design, including control structures for sequential, iterative, and decision-based processing; learning how computers think to set up complex patterns and controls.
  • Interacting With Computers: Using computers and computer systems to program hardware, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • The program also incorporates embedded programs: The Undergraduate Certificate in Programming Essentials and the Associate Degree in Information Technology and Networking are embedded within the Bachelor's Degree program. This allows students to earn these additional credentials along the way. The credit hour breakdown is as follows: Bachelor's (124 credit hours ), Associate (60 credit hours ), Certificate (22 credit hours ).
