Module - Consultation and Physical Examination: Health Assessment Skills (level 7)
Overview
The aim of this module is to enable you to develop consultation and physical examination skills across a range of body systems.
Learning Outcomes
You will develop knowledge of consultation models, structured history taking skills and communication strategies. The anatomical landmarks and physiological principles when undertaking a physical assessment skills including cardiovascular, respiratory, ear, nose and throat, musculoskeletal, neurological and abdominal. Safety Netting, Red Flags and the Professional issues relating to scope of practice will be discussed alongside the legal and professional issues of autonomous practice.
Teaching & Assessment
How you will learn
You will undertake a variety of tasks which will be both directed and self- directed. These are designed to enhance your understanding not only of the learning outcomes, but how practice can support you in developing as a clinician.
How you will be assessed
During the module you will complete assigned asynchronous formative tasks which will support your developing consultation and physical assessment skills. The completion of the asynchronous tasks are designed to encourage learning and development of practice. A formative case study will be developed into the final summative assignment alongside the completion of the practical component of summative assessment of a work based learning competency profile.
Entry Requirements
- Health and or Social care professional with a relevant recordable qualification e.g RGN, Paramedic, Pharmacist, Occupational Therapist.
- You are required to identify a facilitator in practice to oversee your achievement of competence (you will need to complete a Learning Environment Pre-course Assessment Tool (LEPAT) as part of the admissions procedure for this module).
