Course Outline

Course Summary

Computers and the advent of the Internet have brought upon the world the age of information and big data, and organisations want to retain as much information as possible about their business as they appreciate the role of data in gaining insights and out-thinking competitors. As a result, there is an increasing demand for people who nurture analytical skills and can make educated decisions to promote organisational success. The MSc Data Analytics is designed to accommodate a broad audience of learners whose particular pursuits in data analytics might be either technical or business-focused.


Modules

Year 1
  • The following are compulsory modules:
    • Information Management
    • Digital Marketing
    • Advanced Databases
    • Data Analytics
    • Artificial Intelligence
    • Dissertation
  • Students are required to choose one of the following two modules:
    • Internet of Things
    • Corporate Strategy and Competitiveness (note, this is an optional residential module that takes place in Zurich, Switzerland)

Timetables

The teaching timetable should be available from the end of August. Access to the timetable is through the Student Hub – you will be able to access the Student Hub after you have completed online registration. The teaching day is 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday; please keep your other commitments open until confirmation of your teaching timetable, and bear in mind that many courses will offer placements or fieldwork which sometimes extends into the evenings and weekends.


Entry Requirements

  • 1st or 2nd class honours degree.
  • Students with other qualifications may be admitted to the course, please contact the Enquiry Centre for further details.
  • Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) may be considered for relevant prior learning at the same academic level.

Selection Criteria

  • The formal entry requirements are:
    • An honours degree at 2:2 or above.
    • At least 2 years’ relevant work experience.
    • English language at IELTS 6.5 (minimum of 5.5 in each component).
  • Applications are considered from candidates who do not meet the formal entry requirements but can provide evidence of equivalence.
  • Examples of equivalence are:
    • A wide range of professional qualifications and/or work experience.
    • Working or studying in English or an English-speaking environment.
  • Applications will be considered from candidates who do not meet the formal entry requirements but who can demonstrate by an interview the commitment to complete the programme successfully.

Robert Kennedy College Tuition Fees

  • The tuition fee for this course is 12,000 CHF (Swiss Francs). This includes access to an authorised set of the University’s online library resources, Online Campus access, graduation fees, and University of Cumbria matriculation fees. Fees are payable in interest-free instalments. The fees are for the entire programme, and include all the courses as well as supervision for the final dissertation. Some of the textbooks that you will need for the course are not included in these fees.
