University Award Event Safety Management and Site Design

Course Overview

This university award has been developed as a response to the changing legislation that governs the management of events providing expertise in the key areas of licensing and site design.


As a short course delivered over three days of face to face content with online digital content to support the assessment, this course provides a professional certification in events that can be used as a springboard to demonstrate compliance and to undertake further specialised qualifications at level 6.

Entry Requirements

  • Students applying for this award should be able to demonstrate appropriate industry experience and engagement and be employed or recently employed in a job role that involves events management.
  • Students who have studied to level 4 and 5 in events management with appropriate industry experience may also qualify for entry to the programme.
  • Applicant experience will be assessed by interview with the Programme Lead.

Course Outline

Course Summary

To ensure contextualisation the programme is designed and delivered by industry experts that advise the government and the industry on how to design and implement safety within the active event space. All assessment is applied in nature allowing you to embed your understanding of legislation, health and safety and site design in a real-world context.

Timetables

  • The teaching timetable should be available from the end of August.
  • Access to the timetable is through the Student Hub – you will be able to access the Student Hub after you have completed online registration.
  • The teaching day is 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday; please keep your other commitments open until confirmation of your teaching timetable, and bear in mind that many courses will offer placements or fieldwork which sometimes extends into the evenings and weekends.

  • This includes the Cumbria Bursary - a non-repayable bursary designed to support first year students with a household income of less than £25,000.
