BSc (Hons) International Business Management
Overview
This programme is designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to thrive in today's global business landscape. Inspired by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) Benchmark statement (2023), our curriculum supports your growth from self-management to organisational leadership and beyond.

What you will learn
By the end of this programme learners will be able to demonstrate:
- A broad, analytical, and integrated understanding of business and management in a range of contexts
- Detailed knowledge and skill set associated with working in and managing business, people and teams in a range of sectors
- Knowledge, skills and behaviours associated with employability and career progression to management level
- An understanding of impact, ethical and sustainable business practices
- A commitment to continual learning and development within a business environment
- Confidence in dealing with the digital world and its impact on business, adapting to the opportunity's new digital tools and technologies offer, and managing threats or challenges digital may present
Year one
At level 4 all our students are taught together and study 4 x 30 credit modules. Level 4 provides an excellent foundation for you to develop a broad understand of business theory, academic and study skills, and an appreciation of some of the debates and challenges facing contemporary business.
- Operate: Introduce students to key areas of organisations' internal operating environments including policy & strategy, digital operations, innovation & enterprise development
- Lead: Lay the foundation for successful formal and informal learning experiences throughout your degree studies
- Communicate: Introduce students to the importance of effective internal and external communications skills in building sustainable relationships and delivering customer value
- Collaborate: Introduce students to the nature and structure of organisations and the changing environments in which organisations operate
Year two
As you move into levels 5 and 6, your knowledge and skills will be built on through the modules you will study and the opportunities you will be given to apply your knowledge.
- Simulate: Examine Business Simulation and the work that supports implementing business development or starting a business
- Projects: Provide a broad understanding of the principles of project management which will enable you to make a positive contribution to project work in an organisational setting
- International Markets: Equip you with a comprehensive understanding of international marketing and the skills and knowledge necessary to compete effectively in the international marketplace
- International People: Explore people in domestic and international business contexts
Year three
In level 6 there will be an opportunity for you to undertake an independent piece of work such as a research or client project or to develop the start-up plans for a business or other form of organisation business plan.
- Innovate: Open up the concepts of entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship and the strategic planning process needed to move from an idea to a value-generating product or service
- Transform: Provide students with a deep understanding of organisations strategic management process, change management, and systems transformation
- Consult: Develop a sound and critical understanding of a range of business and management research methodologies and their relevance to a wide array of fundamental and applied research contexts

We have a wide range of scholarships, bursaries, grants and funds available to support you throughout your studies with us. This includes the Cumbria Bursary
- a non-repayable bursary designed to support first year students with a household income of less than £25,000.
Additional Costs
There will be some additional costs associated with the course including stationery, textbooks, field trips and membership fees although some of these features are optional.
- Books are reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change, course welcome information will provide you with an indicative list for the year
