Teaching & Assessment

How you will learn

You typically have 6-7 contact hours per week, normally a combination of lectures, seminars, group discussions, practical work and periods of personal, independent study. Your modules are taught using a combination of in-person, classroom delivery alongside tutor-led online learning. This approach is called blended learning and the split between these modes of delivery has been discussed and agreed between the University and your employer. Beyond this formal input you will also gain experience in the workplace as well as undertake training and participation in stretch exercises.

How you will be assessed

Assessment takes place using a range of methods including practical tests, knowledge-based tests, written report, presentations, group exercises and more formal examinations. Assessments are designed to suit specific module learning outcomes and where possible these aim to also develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours in line with the PMDA standard.

Entry Requirements

  • GCSEs: Both Maths and English at GCSE level Grade C (4) or above

Selection Criteria

Apprentices are employed in a clearly defined role and then enrolled onto this programme by their employer. Employers have recruitment and selection processes to find suitable learners to join their organisation so an application is made to the employer rather than to the University. The employer then liaises with the University to register their apprentices learners on an appropriate course.

Fees & Funding

Tuition Fees

  • N/A - UK

The figures above don't include accommodation and living costs.

Tuition fees are set annually and are subject to review each year. The University may therefore raise tuition fees in the second or subsequent years of a course, in line with inflation and/or the maximum permitted by law or Government policy. Students will be notified of any changes as soon as possible.

Funding

Degree apprenticeships are only offered to students undertaking the course as part of their employment. The apprenticeship training is therefore funded by the employer using their apprenticeship levy, with or without a contribution depending on the size and status of the organisation.

Apprentices will not be required to pay any fees and will not be eligible for Student Finance England maintenance support as they are in receipt of a salary. See further information on our Information for Aspiring Apprentices page.

The University will typically charge the maximum fee for the standard, before applying reductions based on accepted prior learning which is determined at application on an individual basis. To discuss sponsoring a learner on programme please contact .

Additional Costs

As a university student, it's essential to budget for additional expenses beyond tuition fees, such as books and equipment necessary for your studies. Being aware of these costs upfront allows you to plan accordingly and ensure you have the necessary resources to excel in your academic pursuits.

Books and Journals

Modules have reading lists which identify useful test books all of which are available physically or electronically in the university library. There is no compulsory requirement to purchase specific books for the course, that is a decision for individual learners to make based on their own needs and preferences.

Stationery

You are strongly advised to have access to a personal computer or laptop for this course. Most employers provide a work laptop however these often have security software on them which can mean access to some resources is affected.

Clothing and Equipment

Anything you require will be provided by your employer.
