Program Overview


Safety and Security for Humanitarian, Disaster Response and Development Workers Level 7

Course Overview

This module will develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours preparing you to assess, plan, implement and evaluate safety programmes that will mitigate risks that your teams may face either in domestic settings or overseas. It will broaden and deepen your perception of your own role either as a planner or leader and it will help you to build resilience into your systems.

Entry Requirements

  • The standard entry requirement for level 7 study is prior successful study at level 6 or level 7.
  • This module is aimed at individuals who will be expected to operate in austere and/or hostile environments whilst engaged in humanitarian action.

Selection Criteria

  • The Safety and Security module is offered as a 20 credit module.
  • Learning is centred around studying real events and relating activity to your own profession.
  • You may study the module as standalone or as part of a Post-Graduate Certificate in Disaster Crisis and Humanitarian Response.
