Master of Science in Environmental, Safety and Health Management
Program Overview
Master of Science in Environmental, Safety, and Health Management
Overview
The Master of Science in Environmental, Safety, and Health Management program at the University of Findlay prepares students for leadership positions in the environmental industry. The program provides enhanced knowledge of science, occupational health, environmental policy, and business concepts.
Emphasis Areas
Safety Leadership Emphasis
The Safety Leadership Emphasis qualifies as a Board of Certified Safety Professionals Qualified Academic Plan (QAP). Students who graduate from a QAP are automatically eligible for the Graduate Safety Professional designation, meeting the eligibility requirement of holding a BCSP-qualified credential. Once students have four years of experience, they may sit for the BCSP's Certified Safety Professional Credential.
Environmental Health Emphasis
The Environmental Health Emphasis provides the most versatility, with a choice of environmental electives, thus retaining the broad appeal of an environmental health program. As EHAC accredited, this program of study is "best practices".
Certificates
- Emergency and Disaster Management: Prepares professionals and community members to help citizens and businesses recover from any sort of disaster.
- Environmental Management: Provides students with the knowledge needed to apply advanced environmental concepts related to waste management, pollution prevention, and air quality to making today's industries more sustainable.
- Occupational Health and Safety: Prepares people who work with the field of industrial safety but may not have the necessary knowledge to be fully operational in it, such as business managers and human resource officers, to enhance their role and make their workplace even safer.
Accreditation
The Master of Science in Environmental, Safety and Health Management Program is one of nine programs in the country accredited by the National Environmental Health, Science, and Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC).
Financial Aid and Loan Options
Federal Loan Programs
- Stafford Loan Program: If you file a FAFSA and are enrolled at least half-time, you may qualify for a Stafford Loan, which is a long-term, low-interest loan.
- Graduate PLUS Loans: You may also have the option of applying for a Graduate PLUS loan if your unsubsidized loan does not cover all of your educational costs.
Private Loan Options
You may wish to consider one of the alternative loans that are available to graduate students in lieu of the Direct GradPLUS Loan.
Employer Reimbursement
For many graduate students, employer reimbursement is a good option to help cover the cost of your education. If your company offers employer reimbursement, you must contact the University's Business Office to complete the University's Company Reimbursement Form prior to each session you enroll in.
