Overview
The Leadership Academy – Geneva Edition is a one-week pre-university summer programme designed for students aged 16–18 who are passionate about international relations, diplomacy, and global affairs. The programme provides a unique taster of the flagship Bachelor programme at the Geneva School of Diplomacy (GSD) and is held in Geneva, the world's diplomatic capital.
Programme Aim
The programme aims to provide students with a practical introduction to international affairs, preparing them for their academic and professional futures. The language of instruction is English, and the programme welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and interests.
Programme Structure
The programme includes:
- Expert-led workshops on diplomacy, negotiation, and sustainable development
- Participation in The Summit, a high-stakes diplomatic simulation where students take on the roles of world leaders, NGOs, and policymakers
- Visits to leading international organizations, including the United Nations, World Trade Organization (WTO), and the International Red Cross (ICRC)
- Networking opportunities with peers from around the world, developing leadership skills and a global perspective on international challenges

The programme covers key topics shaping global diplomacy and international relations, including:
- United Nations System: Understanding the structure, functions, and impact of the UN in global governance
- Multilateral Diplomacy: Exploring how nations collaborate on international challenges through diplomatic engagement
- International Trade: Examining trade policies, economic agreements, and the role of organizations like the WTO
- Human Rights: Delving into the protection of fundamental rights and international legal frameworks
- International Humanitarian Law: Studying the laws that govern conflict zones, humanitarian aid, and crisis response
- Modern Armed Conflicts: Analyzing contemporary global conflicts and their diplomatic, political, and humanitarian implications
- Digital Diplomacy: Investigating the role of technology, cybersecurity, and social media in modern international relations
- Energy Diplomacy: Understanding the geopolitical significance of energy policies, renewable energy, and sustainability
