Course Overview
The Work and Study programme is the best choice for non-EEA students keen to study English and work in Ireland. Students enrolled in Academic Year programmes are integrated into the General English 15-hour course, which can be in either the morning or the afternoon depending on the booking. Students on this programme are entitled to up to 10 weeks of holidays.
Examination preparation is included as a component of the course programme, as non-EEA students must undertake one of the recognised English language exams when they enrol in long-stay courses (25 weeks or more) in Ireland. For students who choose IELTS as their final exam, for the first 13 weeks they will do General English and for the last 12 weeks they will take IELTS preparation). For those who choose to take the TIE exam, they study General English for 25 weeks and free exam workshops are offered to help them prepare.
This arrangement entitles them to obtain the Stamp 2 student visa for 8 months. Under this visa, you are allowed to work part-time (20 hours per week) while studying and full-time (40 hours per week) at any time during your 10-week holidays, during the months of June, July, August, September, and during the Christmas holidays.
