Overview

Our BA (Hons) Business and Management (Top-up) offers a fast-track route to a full bachelor’s degree in one year.

This course focuses on strategic business management, sustainability, and global challenges, with practical workshops and assessments based on real-world business scenarios.

You will complete a final project addressing international, ethical, or sustainability issues, applying your skills in a hands-on, exam-free environment.

May 2025 Start

• Typical offers: Relevant HE study leading to a Level 5 qualification, for example an appropriate HND, foundation degree or Advanced Diploma, or 240 credits from year 1 and year 2 of an undergraduate degree (BA/BSc), in a relevant subject.
• English language requirements: English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.0 with no component score below 5.5.

How You'll Spend Your Time

One of the main differences between school or college and university is how much control you have over your learning.

We're planning for most of your learning to be supported by timetabled face-to-face teaching with some elements of online provision.

A Typical Week

Students will have 10 hours per week contact time which will consist of:

• Timetabled face-to-face activities (lectures, seminars, tutorials, classes and workshops) = about 8 hours a week
• Timetabled online activities (research, reading, coursework and project work, alone or in a group) = about 2 hours a week

These taught sessions are typically scheduled on two mornings or two afternoons per week.

You'll also receive guidance on independent study activities to maximise time spent in the classroom.

Term Dates

The academic year runs from September to June. There are breaks at Christmas and Easter.

Supporting You

The amount of timetabled teaching you'll get on your degree might be less than what you're used to at school or college, but you'll get the following types of support via video, phone and face-to-face from our London campus support team to enhance your learning experience and help you succeed:

• Academic writing (such as essays, reports, dissertations, projects and literature reviews)
• Reflective writing
• Critical thinking skills
• Delivering presentations (including observing and filming presentations)
• Understanding and using assignment feedback
• Managing your time and workload
• Revision and exam techniques

You'll also have access to a personal tutor to support you in your studies.

If English isn't your first language, you can do one of our English language courses to improve your written and spoken English language skills before starting your degree. Once you're here, you can take part in our free In-Sessional English (ISE) programme to improve your English further.

Recommended Reading

You’ll study up to 6 modules a year. You may have to read several recommended books or textbooks for each module.

You can borrow most of these from the Library. If you buy these, they may cost up to £60 each.

General Costs

We recommend that you budget £75 a year for photocopying, memory sticks, DVDs and CDs, printing charges, binding and specialist printing.

Final Year Project

If your final year includes a major project, there could be cost for transport or accommodation related to your research activities. The amount will depend on the project you choose.
