Program Overview
International Foundation in Nursing
University of Stirling
Prepare to enter Year 1 of a 3 or 4-year undergraduate nursing degree at the University of Stirling. The International Foundation combines comprehensive academic preparation with English language support, including medical English, equipping you with the skills you need to train for your healthcare career.
The University of Stirling is ranked 6th in Scotland for Nursing (The Complete University Guide 2025) and 94% of graduates are working or pursuing further studies 15 months after completing the course. The university also partners with NHS Forth Valley to ensure its nursing courses remain clinically excellent, meaning you’ll receive the best possible training.
You'll have two study plan options. A 4-year study plan (pathway + 3-year degree) allows you to graduate with an ordinary degree. A 5-year study plan (pathway + 4-year degree) gives you an extra year in which to obtain honours, should you choose.
Nursing is a competitive subject, so places are limited – and you’ll need to successfully pass the following before you can start your nursing degree:
- all compulsory pathway modules
- a faculty interview
- an occupational health check
- an overseas criminal record check.
