Overview

The Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a five-year undergraduate degree that trains students to become doctors. The course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the biomedical sciences and clinical sciences, as well as healthcare in various settings.


Admission Criteria

ATAR Pathway

  • Minimum ATAR: 95
  • Essential WACE subjects (prerequisites): Chemistry ATAR
  • Desirable WACE subjects: Mathematics: Methods ATAR, Mathematics Specialist ATAR or Mathematics Applications ATAR or Human Biology ATAR or Biology ATAR

Alternative Pathways

  • Indigenous applicant: The Centre for Aboriginal Studies offers bridging courses to help eligible students gain entry into the course.
  • STAT entry: The Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) is a national test for those who don't meet university admission criteria.
  • Rural Entry Pathway: An additional application form is required for rural background entry.
  • Equity Entry Pathway: Equity places are available to Western Australian (WA) school leaver applicants who qualify for Curtin University’s StepUp Bonus scheme and meet the MBBS course admissions criteria.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Entry Pathway: Applicants must complete and submit the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entry application to Curtin Medical School (Discipline of Medicine) and meet the minimum admission criteria.

Other Requirements and Notes

  • For applicants that have recently attended high school, applicants must not have commenced post-secondary studies (AQF Diploma or above) and not have a higher degree record from any Australian or overseas university.
  • This can be a physically and mentally challenging course. Please familiarise yourself with the Inherent requirements before applying.
  • Applicants must sit the UCAT ANZ test and the Casper test.
  • The MBBS course has full-year units from years 2 to 5.
