Graduate Diploma in Mining
Overview
The Graduate Diploma in Mining is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the mining industry, including mining engineering methods, mineral exploration, mine planning, design, engineering, optimisation, and management of mining operations.
Admission Criteria
Applicants for a Graduate Diploma are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards. A Bachelor Degree or Graduate Certificate is generally required. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.

Course Structure
The course consists of 200 credits of core units, encompassing the key aspects of mining engineering skills and knowledge, across the breadth of the industry.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may be employed as underground and/or open pit mining engineers or quarry managers, or hold other senior management positions once the necessary experience is gained.

Duration
- 1 year full-time or equivalent part-time study
- The course can be studied externally
- Candidates who have completed a mining-related undergraduate degree or who have minerals industry experience may be considered for mid-year entry
Credit
- A full-time study load usually consists of 200 credits (approximately eight units) per year, with 100 credits (approximately four units) in each semester
