Overview
The Bachelor of Science (Nursing) is a comprehensive course that includes biological, psychosocial, and nursing sciences; advanced clinical skill development; and simulated practice and fieldwork. This course prepares students to become registered nurses with the expertise to deliver comprehensive care to patients in diverse healthcare settings.
Professional Recognition and Accreditation
Graduates of this course are eligible to apply for registration to become a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Admission Criteria
ATAR Pathway
- Minimum ATAR: 70
- Essential WACE subjects (prerequisites): None
- Desirable WACE subjects: Human Biology ATAR and Integrated Science ATAR
Alternative Pathways
- UniReady: Successful completion of the UniReady Enabling Program
- Certificate IV + English Competency: The certificate IV is the minimum requirement for university entry. It qualifies you for entry to Curtin courses with a 70 ATAR. You must also meet English language proficiency and check that you meet any extra subject prerequisites (where applicable)
- Indigenous applicant: If you’re an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicant who hasn’t met Curtin’s minimum admissions criteria, the Centre for Aboriginal Studies offers bridging courses that are tailored to help you gain entry into this course
- STAT entry: The Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) is a national test for those who don't meet university admission criteria. STAT can be used to meet entry criteria for some courses, or as a way to satisfy Curtin’s English proficiency requirements

Other Requirements and Notes for This Course
- This can be a physically and mentally challenging course. Please familiarise yourself with the Inherent requirements before applying. Reasonable adjustments can be made for students with disability
- Manual Handling and Basic Life Support Certification is required prior to commencement of the course and then updated on a yearly basis. You will need to keep these requirements current during your course. You are responsible for the cost of these
- You must be available to undertake clinical practice during and/or outside semester in health care facilities. You must also be available to work rotational shift work, including morning, afternoon and nightshift
- A break from study of more than one semester may incur additional clinical practice
