Program Overview


Master of Advanced Practice

Overview

This new, accelerated 12-month master course has been designed to meet changed health industry demands, both across the Australian health sector and globally, that require advanced practice clinicians, clinical leadership and clinical research skills in identified areas of healthcare.


The first of its kind in Western Australia, this course combines specialisations in clinical practice with research practice. It is suitable for registered nurses, midwives, paramedics and oral-health therapists wanting to develop distinctive careers involving research activities within clinical settings.


Admission Criteria

Applicants for the Master of Advanced Practice Degree (Coursework) are required to meet University academic and English language standards. Applicants will require a Bachelor Degree, Bachelor Honours Degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in their related field. Applicants must also hold three (3) years' experience in their related field post Bachelor degree. Enrolment can be full time or part time. Study plan can be negotiated. A part time study plan is essential for specialisations that are linked to employment.

Course Outline

Duration

This fee-paying course is two semesters’ full-time study or equivalent part-time study. Students study discipline specific units at Graduate Certificate level and then progress with generic units for the remainder of their course.


Credit

A full-time study load usually consists of 200 credits (approximately eight units) per year, with 100 credits (approximately four units) in each semester.


CRICOS

The Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) Code indicates a registered program offered to international students studying in Australia on student visas.
