Overview

The Materials Science Specialisation is an undergraduate specialisation that prepares students for project work across the materials research spectrum. The course covers advanced chemistry and material characterisation instrumentation, including microstructure using X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy, graphitisation, and hydrogen storage research.

What You'll Learn

• Gather and interpret relevant data within physics to inform judgements that include reflection on relevant social, scientific, or ethical issues.
• Display a high standard of professional behaviour, including effective time management, both independently and as a team member.
• Demonstrate further and expanded knowledge and understanding in physics that is typically at a level that, whilst supported by advanced textbooks, includes some aspects that will be informed by knowledge of the forefront of materials science.
• Apply their further and expanded knowledge and understanding in a manner that indicates a professional approach to physics, and have competencies typically demonstrated through devising and sustaining arguments (to both specialist and non-specialist audiences) and solving problems within materials science, including using digital technologies.
