Food Security Major (MSc AgriFoodSecur)

Overview

Food security has become a critical global issue due to factors including climate change, global conflicts, population growth, supply chain disruption, and food waste. There is an urgent need for people who can provide smarter and more sustainable approaches to food production and manufacturing.

This major will give you essential knowledge and skills in food security and sustainable land management, focusing on agricultural systems, aquaculture, and food science. The program covers the science and technology behind crop and livestock production, as well as food manufacturing, aiming for sustainable outcomes within environmental constraints.

You will develop specific skills in areas such as soil health, alternative fertilization methods, aquaculture for food security, and food product development. Additionally, you will develop proficiency in data analysis for informed decision-making and become familiar with emerging technologies for precise management of agricultural resources.

You will apply your learning to real-world challenges in food security through a significant research project.

This major is offered within the Master of Science (Agriculture and Food Security).
