Water and Environmental Engineering Specialisation
Overview
This extension specialisation will enable students to build and expand on knowledge developed through the Civil Engineering major, providing a solid grounding in advanced water and wastewater engineering management, along with an understanding of environmental issues surrounding engineering development. Key concepts covered are hydraulic principles and structures; planning, design, operation and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection networks; calculating and managing flood events; surface and groundwater flow, interaction, quality and contamination; solid and hazardous waste management; air quality and pollution control.
What you'll learn
- Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of fundamental science, mathematics, data analytics, information science, sustainability principles and/or computing, GC1
- Solve water and environmental engineering problems of industrial and societal significance via innovative and creative design or research, working individually or in teams, GC2
- Select and use current and emerging technologies to develop and communicate effective and innovative engineering solutions to complex problems, GC3

- Qualification: Water and Environmental Engineering Specialisation
- Credit: 100
- Course outline: A full-time study load usually consists of 200 credits (approximately eight units) per year, with 100 credits (approximately four units) in each semester.
