This double degree program provides graduates with a background in the physics of electrical devices and systems and a versatility which opens up a wider range of employment opportunities. With the rapid progress of the information society, the role of communications is becoming even more crucial to increased industry efficiency and competitiveness. In this major students learn about the theoretical and practical aspects of modern electronic and communication systems.
Professional Recognition and Accreditation
Graduates fulfil the stage one competencies required by Engineers Australia at the level of Professional Engineer Washington Accord.
Admission Criteria
ATAR Pathway
- Minimum ATAR: 80
- Essential WACE subjects (prerequisites):
- Mathematics Methods ATAR
- Physics ATAR
- Desirable WACE subjects:
- Mathematics Specialist ATAR
Alternative Pathways
- STAT entry: The Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) is a national test for those who don't meet university admission criteria. STAT can be used to meet entry criteria for some courses, or as a way to satisfy Curtin’s English proficiency requirements.
- TAFE entry: To meet the entry criteria with VET studies you need to have:
- Advanced Diploma of Engineering (2 years)
- Met the subject prerequisites
- Higher education course switcher criteria: To switch into this course from another higher education provider, you need to have:
- A minimum ATAR/ Selection Rank of 80
- Met Mathematics Methods ATAR prerequisite (or equivalent)
- Met Physics ATAR prerequisite (or equivalent)
- Achieved an academic status of Good Standing
