Overview

The Business Studies degree is for students who want the skills, knowledge and experience needed to succeed in a wide range of careers including E-Commerce, Financial Management, HR, Economics, and more. The course provides a solid grounding in the many skills required to pursue a successful career in business, with an entrepreneurial focus and relevance to management practice.

Entry Requirements

  • Leaving Cert: Minimum of O4 or H6 in Mathematics
  • GCE A Level: GCE A Level D or GCE AS Level C or GCSE C Mathematics

  • Mature Applicants: Mature entry is a competitive process. Applicants must demonstrate a genuine interest in the programme(s) they are applying for, academic experience and competency in their chosen field of study, and an ability to engage and succeed on the programme
  • Advanced Entry: Applicants that have completed at least one year of study at NFQ Level 6, 7 or 8 at another institution may apply to continue their studies on a similar programme at DCU

Fees

  • Student Contribution: €3,043 per annum
  • EU Status Fee: €5,922 per annum
  • Non EU Fee: €16,500 per annum

How To Apply

  • Applicants presenting EU school leaving examinations (EU, EFTA & UK): Apply through the Central Applications Office (CAO) by 1st February or 1st May
  • Applicants presenting examinations from outside the EU: Candidates should apply directly here
  • Mature Applicants: All mature applicants apply through the CAO by 1st February
  • Advanced Entry: Applications are made via the CAO Advanced Entry route which will open on the 5th November to 1st July

  • DCU has three academic campuses; Glasnevin, St. Patrick’s and All Hallows (both in Drumcondra), all close to Dublin City centre

  • Do I need to have studied Business Subjects in my Leaving Cert to complete this course? If not, how difficult will it be to study Business Studies?
    No, you don't have to have studied business studies for this course. Actually, it is better if you haven't as the first semesters modules introduce you to the world of business and is taught at a beginners level
  • Does DCU have partner universities around the world to go to?

  • For the business courses how big are class sizes like and are there work placements?
    There are some large lectures for common modules but these are supported by smaller weekly tutorial groups of approx. 30 people. There are work placements in our Business school
