Program Overview
The Rowan Experience
Our Post-Baccalaureate Endorsement Teacher of Students with Disabilities program, which is offered by the Wellness and Inclusive Services in Education Department, is conveniently offered in the part-time, accelerated online format. This undergraduate offering can be completed in as few as five semesters.
Please note that the classes in this program don't count toward a master's degree. In accordance with the current State regulations, endorsement as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) is only possible if the candidate already holds, or is eligible for, an initial instructional certification with a corresponding subject area major.
Teachers in the state of New Jersey may apply to the Post-Baccalaureate Endorsement Teacher of Students with Disabilities program through the New Jersey Teacher Outreach Program (NJTOP). For more information about NJTOP, see below.
Curriculum
The Post-Baccalaureate Teacher of Students with Disabilities is a part-time program offered in an accelerated online format. This endorsement requires the completion of 24 undergraduate semester hours depending upon possible transfer credits. Each course requires classroom field placement in local area schools.
The following courses make up the Teacher of Students with Disabilities Post-Baccalaureate Online program. Each course is scheduled in 8-week modules with each week of work starting every Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. and ending every Monday at midnight (Eastern Standard Time).
- Foundation Course: This program requires successful completion of READ 30280 Teaching Literacy (or equivalent determined by department).

Admission Requirements
The following is a list of items required to begin the application process for the program. There may be additional action or materials required for admission to the program. Upon receipt of the materials below, a representative from the Rowan Global Admissions Processing Office will contact you with confirmation or will indicate any missing items.
- Completed Application Form
- Completed foundation courses
- $65 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee
- Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher learning
- Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned)
- Current professional resume
- Two letters of recommendation
- Letters of recommendation should be from professional administrators and include information, which attests to applicant's ability to pursue a graduate degree
- Minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale)
- NJ Standard Instructional Certificate, or CEAS in Elementary Education or other qualifying K-12 content areas
- If an applicant's certificate was issued prior to 1994, official scores from the Praxis II content specialization test must be submitted.
- Required if applicant doesn’t possess a CEAS or standard certification: NJ Certificate of Eligibility (CE) in elementary education (or other K-12 qualifying content areas), a CE in Teacher of Students with Disabilities, and documentation of enrollment in or completion of an approved NJDOE CE program (alternate route program).
