Program Overview


Clinical Capabilities in Advancing Practice through Work-Based Learning

Course Overview

This module aims to consolidate the knowledge, skills and behaviours acquired whilst studying the programme by the completion and submission of a portfolio of evidence of clinical capability in their respective area of clinical practice.


Programme Options

This module can be taken as part of the Advanced Clinical Practice (Paediatrics and Child Health) MSc. It is not available as a standalone module.


Teaching

Online seminars will introduce the learner to the module, instruct the learners on how to select suitable learning outcomes as part of their negotiated learning, evaluate their own learning styles and develop a plan for learning.


Personal tutorials will be used to work with the individual learner to support development of the negotiated learning contract and guide the learner through the learning and assessment of the module.


Assessment

Formative assessment will be:


  • Review of work with feedback

For the summative assessment, learners will:


  • Submit a portfolio of work
  • Submit a reflective account to accompany the portfolio

Teaching Dates

Teaching will take place over a whole day. Face-to-Face teaching will take place either on or around the Great Ormond Street Hospital campus or at the Middlesex University West Stand at StoneX stadium. Exact locations for teaching days will be advised closer to the start date.


Learners are only expected to attend one of the available assessment dates.

Entry Requirements

To undertake this module, you must:


  • Be enrolled on the Advanced Clinical Practice (Paediatrics and Child Health) MSc. You can view the entry requirements for these programmes on the respective webpages.

How to Apply

Applications will close two weeks before the module start date but may close early due to demand. It is highly recommended that candidates submit their application as early as possible.


It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that they have arranged the necessary study leave to attend the programme.

Candidates whose fees are being paid by their organisation will need to obtain a purchase order from their organisation for their fees and upload this as part of their application.
