Overview
The BA (Hons) Photography with Foundation Year is a four-year full-time or eight-year part-time course that prepares students for university-level study. The Foundation year provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their chosen field, and successful completion of the Foundation course permits access to any of the University's Art or Digital Media BA (Hons) or BDes (Hons) degree courses.

Level 4
- You will be introduced to the key themes, media, and methods of the BA Photography Programme through a number of practical assignments.
- You will be encouraged to begin thinking independently about the selection and choice of theme, ideas, and processes employed in your assignments whilst receiving instruction in the photography workshops and equipment.
Level 5
- You will initiate self-negotiated projects and materials as you begin to define your practice as a photographer and image-maker in professional contexts.
- You will be supported in developing independent thinking about the selection and choice of theme, ideas, and approaches employed in your projects whilst receiving advanced supervision in the photography facilities and equipment.
Level 6
- You will manage the production of projects as you define your practice within the Creative industries.
- Specific audiences and modes of publication will drive your selection of themes, development of ideas, and refinement of specialist methods and media.

Entry Requirements
- Prepare for Foundation Pathway: We will consider applicants who have not achieved 48 UCAS points (equivalence) from prior level 3 qualifications, if you have a keen interest in this subject area or hold relevant experience. You will be required to attend and pass a compulsory Prepare For Foundation assessment day where you will take part in a variety of activities which will assess your suitability for the course.
Funding
