OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care
Overview
The objective of the OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care is to equip learners with the underpinning knowledge, understanding, and skills required for a career in the health and social care sector at a support worker, senior support worker, or care assistant level. The programme enables learners to demonstrate their skills by producing evidence from their work activities, to meet national occupational standards. Learners will acquire skills to support a role in the Health and Social Care sector or progress to further study.
Requirements
- Students need to be 18 years plus
- English Language: Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2, Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) 51, IELTS 4.5; Reading and Writing must be at 4.5. (Alternatively, gain an LanguageCert (ESOL) qualification from our college)
- A student applying for a top-up program to enter the first year of university must have completed 12 years of schooling or possess relevant experience in the Health and Social Care industry.
Equivalences
OTHM qualifications at RQF Level 3 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities, and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels.
Qualification Structure
The OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 60 credits, 600 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT), and 120 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Progression
Successful completion of OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies provides learners the opportunity for academic progressions to a wide range of undergraduate programmes including OTHM Level 4 diplomas.
Course Length
- Fast track: 3-6 months (online and in person)
- Standard: 6 – 11 months (online)
Delivery Method
The qualification is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, distance, and online learning. Learners can choose the mode of study as per their choice and convenience.
Assessment
Assessment is via assignment submission only, and no exam is involved.
