Program Overview

Building Engineering (TU703)

Overview

The Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Building Engineering is a three-year program that focuses on designing energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly buildings. Building engineers are responsible for designing the engineering systems in buildings, which consume almost half of all energy consumption.

Course Description

The program emphasizes low-energy design and practical project work. Students will learn about energy use in buildings, heating and ventilation systems, and physics and math. The course includes a "design, make, and test" project, where students design, make, and test a solar collector.

Study Abroad Opportunities

On progression from this course to the level 8 (TU825) honors degree course, students have the option of spending six months with the Hochschule Munchen (University of Applied Sciences in Munich).

Professional Accreditation

This course is accredited by Engineers Ireland.
