Course Description
This course covers all aspects of sport and sport science, plus finance, marketing, management, IT, and event management. This enables graduates to work effectively in sports management and coaching environments. The course includes modules such as Applied Performance Analysis, Elite Coaching, Sports and Leisure Event Management, and High-Performance Speed and Conditioning.
What is Sports Management and Coaching?
The course is designed for students who are passionate about the world of sport business and coaching, and who have good people skills and an interest in sport and business. Students will learn all the skills of sports management and coaching techniques, combined with the fundamentals of business and enterprise.
Athlete Support Programme
The Athlete Support Programme is for students who wish to compete and succeed at the highest sporting level while simultaneously pursuing an academic programme at TU Dublin. Through the programme, elite and high-performance athletes are given the opportunity of developing their sporting career by offering the highest standards in sport service provision and academic mentoring support.
Professional Accreditation
This course is accredited on the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) Ireland as a REPS-accredited course. It will provide students with a Personal Trainer accreditation that is highly regarded throughout the fitness industry.
IT Requirements
While a medium spec PC/Laptop will suffice, a high spec would be a better investment in the long term. The recommended specifications include:
- Medium spec: able to run Win 10, an AV solution, and Office comfortably, with Wi-fi and camera capabilities.
- High spec: able to run Win 10, an AV solution, and Office comfortably, with Wi-fi and camera capabilities, and additional hardware-intensive software such as Adobe Cloud Premium suite, Visual Studio, AutoCAD, ProEng, etc.

- Minimum Grade in Maths: O6/H7/F2 or higher
- Minimum Grade in English OR Irish: O6/H7
QQI/FET Requirements
- QQI/FET Award Required: Any full Level 5 or 6 award
- Additional Requirements: 3 Distinctions
Mature Applicants
Applications from mature students (23+) are welcome.
English Language Requirements
If English is not the first language, students will need to provide evidence of their English language proficiency as detailed on the TU Dublin website. Applicants for this course should have a minimum IELTS (Academic Version) English Proficiency of 6.0 overall (or equivalent).
