Minimum Entry Requirements
- An honours bachelor degree (2.2 or higher) with accounting constituting a major part.
- Those who have made timely progress in their professional examinations may also be considered.
- If English is not your first language, you will need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency as detailed on our website.
- Applicants for this course should have a minimum IELTS (Academic Version) English Proficiency of 6.5 overall (or equivalent) with nothing less than 6 in each component.
Career Opportunities
Most graduates will initially embark on qualifying as a professional accountant. Following this, opportunities exist in both professional offices and elsewhere.
- Graduates of the MBS in Accounting (International) can obtain exemptions from all CA Proficiency 1 (CAP1) examinations of Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI), and exemptions from all Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills examinations of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) (subject to performance in specific modules on the course).
- Graduates overwhelmingly enter training contracts with accountancy firms (including “The Big Four”) or in the finance departments of some of the largest multinational corporations operating in Ireland.
- Following appropriate training, most graduates pursue careers as corporate/public/government accountants, financial analysts, tax consultants, etc.
