What is Environmental Health and Safety?
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is a field of study that focuses on the prevention of injuries, illnesses, and environmental damage. EHS professionals work to identify and mitigate hazards in the workplace, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for employees, customers, and the general public.
Conversion Course
This MSc program is delivered in three streams:
- Environmental Health & Safety stream
- Health Safety and Human Factors stream
- Construction Safety Stream
The program enjoys a widespread academic and professional reputation and is accredited by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The Human Factors stream also gives access to full membership for the Irish Human Factors Ergonomics Society.
Objectives
The objectives of the MSc program are to provide students with:
- A framework for lifelong learning
- The skills necessary to critically evaluate cutting-edge scientific and technical developments related to EHS, Ergonomics, Human Factors, and Construction Safety
- An in-depth understanding and knowledge in their chosen discipline area
- Competency in EHS, Ergonomics, Human Factors, and Construction Safety
- Core risk management skills with and the ability to further develop these skills
- The ability to plan, perform, analyze, and report hypothesis-driven research

Minimum Entry Requirements
This is a Conversion Course.
An honors bachelor degree (2.2 grade or higher) or equivalent in a Science, Engineering, Technology, Construction, Environmental Health, or related discipline is required. Eligible candidates may be interviewed.

Graduates are expected to be employed within manufacturing, technology, construction, public and private sectors, chemical, environmental, and associated industries in a variety of health, hygiene, safety, fire, food, quality, regulatory, consultancy, and related roles.
