Programme Description
The programme's primary goal is to develop highly educated, technically proficient, and market-ready graduates who can significantly contribute to the rapidly evolving field of geospatial engineering. The Geospatial Engineering and Data Management coursework aligns with advancements in measurement science technologies and includes modules on point cloud data acquisition, manipulation, modelling, and data management.
Professional Accreditation
This programme is accredited by the SCSI (Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland) in line with their requirements for Chartered Engineering Surveyor. The course is also accredited by the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors.
IT Requirements
Students will have access to a range of modern surveying equipment and processing software.
Minimum Entry Requirements
- A minimum of a 2.2 in an honours bachelor degree in a Construction, Engineering, Architectural, or Geomatics discipline (Level 8 NQAI) or equivalent.
- Applications from candidates who have an equivalent qualification at honours level (for example, a professional qualification) will also be considered.
- Prior work or industrial experience is not a pre-requisite for entry onto the course.
English Language Requirements
- A minimum IELTS (Academic Version) English Proficiency of 6.5 overall (or equivalent) with nothing less than 6 in each component.
Career Opportunities
The geospatial sector is an indispensable national information resource, providing significant societal, economic, and environmental benefits by integrating government systems and location-based development initiatives. Geospatial engineering is crucial for measuring, storing, manipulating, and presenting geospatial data.
