Programme Flexibility
Should your circumstances change, you will have the flexibility to postpone your studies (exiting with a Level 6 Higher Certificate in Accounting) or continue your studies full time.
Career Preparation & Professional Exemptions
The School of Accounting, Economics and Finance prides itself on its industry links and its approach to supporting our students in the preparation and securing of employment. Our students are supported in semester 6 of year 3 of the course, through a formal module, 'Professional Communication and Work Preparation', to develop their CV's, enhance their linked in profiles and perfect their interviewing skills.
Professional Exemptions
- Focus on exemptions doing two full semesters of modules. This option allows you to obtain up to 8 ACCA exemptions, (along with CPA, CIMA and Chartered exemptions). Students may also progress to the part time level 8 in Accounting and Finance.
- Do a single semester of modules and take the second semester of work placement. This would result in achieving a maximum of 6 ACCA exemptions and progression to level 8 could be through full time study only.
Minimum Entry Requirements
- Applicants aged under 23 must have ordinary level Grade O6 or higher in five subjects. The subject list must include either English or Irish. Ordinary level Mathematics Grade O6 or higher is also a requirement to apply for year one of this course.
- A mature student must be over 23 years on 1st January of year of application. All applicants must have competence in spoken and written English.
- NFQ Level 6 in Accounting or ATI is a requirement for advanced entry into Year 3.
Advanced Entry
Advanced Entry applications are accepted to this course. To qualify for Advanced Entry applicants must be currently studying, completing, or have successfully completed, studies at Level 6, 7 or 8 in a Higher Education Institution (HEI) or an equivalent, in a related area.

Schedule
Students have 12 hours direct contact per week over three evenings from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. The course is delivered in an online learning environment.
Assessment
Modules are examined by way of a combination of continuous assessment (during tuition semester) and final examination. A breakdown of the assessment split for each module is contained under the course content/module map.
Progression
On successful completion, you will be eligible to progress to the final year of (TU934P) – running of TU934 is subjection to minimum numbers.
