What is... Automotive Engineer Assessor (IAEA)?
This programme allows candidates to apply for membership of the IAEA. Membership is required to undertake examinations. Member or Associate grade of the Institute is determined by the successful completion (and passing) of a practical exam in addition to completion (and passing) of written examinations.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Applicants must have or are working towards an automotive trade or technical qualification, or currently are employed in motor insurance or the automotive industry.
Career Opportunities
Employment as a Motor Assessor or this course would also be of benefit to people in the roles of Service Managers/Advisors, Insurance Claim Handler or Vehicle Damage Appraiser.
Course Content
The programme consists of four sections/modules:
- Basic principles of maths & physics applicable to accident reconstruction
- Motor Vehicle Legislation as Related to Insurance Principles
- Principles and Practice of Motor Vehicle Damage Assessment
- Motor Insurance

One evening per week from 7 - 10pm on Tuesdays.
