Master of Global Business and Economy
A Cutting-Edge Master's Program for a Globalized World
The Master of Global Business and Economy (MGBE) is a 24-month course-based graduate program designed to equip students with the critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills needed to navigate today’s complex global business and economic landscape. Combining real-world data analysis with practical coursework, the MGBE prepares graduates for dynamic careers in international business, policy-making, and economic analysis.
Program Highlights
- The MGBE is a program delivered over four semesters (24 months).
- Students will complete 10 courses, including a capstone Major Research Project that enables them to apply their knowledge to industry-relevant challenges.
- Course Breakdown:
- Terms 1 & 2: Foundational courses in Economic Analysis and Policy, Data Analytics, and International Business, Global Supply Chain Management, Global Business Strategy & Leadership, and Research Methods.
- Terms 3 & 4: Specialization courses include Global Labour and Migration Policy, and Sustainable Energy and Environmental Policy, Agriculture, Food & Trade Policy, and Project Planning and Risk Analysis.
- Final Term (4): Completion of the Major Research Project, where students formulate evidence-based policy or business recommendations using real-world data.
Admission Requirements
- To be considered for admission to the Master of Global Business and Economy, applicants must hold a four-year undergraduate degree in any discipline from an accredited university, with a minimum 75% (B+) average over the last two years of full-time undergraduate study.
- Background in quantitative subjects is required for admission to this program.
- Applicants who have not completed Statistics, Business Statistics, Quantitative Methods, Mathematics, Business Mathematics, or Mathematical Economics courses at the undergraduate level must complete a foundation course, “Basic Quantitative Analysis,” at Algoma University.
English Language Requirements
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is required for international applicants whose primary language of instruction was not English.
- Applicants must submit a valid test score to complete their application.
- Non-native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency through one of the following:
- IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall, no band lower than 6.0 (reading, writing, listening, speaking)
- TOEFL (IBT): 93 overall
- Cambridge Assessment Test (CAE): 176
- Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL): 60
- Pearson Test of English (PTE): 63
- Duolingo English Test (DET): 110 overall, no band lower than 100
- Successful completion of ILAC’s University Pathway Program (PW 3.3)
Application Submission and Processing Timelines
- FALL 2025 INTAKE:
- Application opens on March 10, 2025
- Domestic applicants:
- Application deadline: August 15, 2025
- Documents are accepted August 29, 2025
- International (onshore and offshore) applicants:
- Application closes on June 1, 2025
- Documents are accepted until June 15, 2025
- Application deadline for entrance and donor-sponsored scholarship consideration:
- May 1, 2025 (applicants must complete in full all application requirements for admissions)

- Students may be eligible for entrance scholarship under certain conditions and only if they complete in full all application requirements for admission by the specified deadline of their intake.
Prepare Your Application
- In order to apply for the Master of Global Business and Economy program, we require the following:
- A complete Application form (submitted via the Application Portal by the specified deadline)
- Full payment of the application fee ($70 for domestic applicants, and $125 for International applicants)
- Undergraduate degree transcript ready to be uploaded to the Application Portal
- Language test result (for international applicants that completed their undergraduate degree in a country where English is not an official language)
