Program Overview


Overview

This program is designed for nurse practitioners who already hold a graduate degree in nursing with certification in an existing APRN population focusing on providing critical and primary care to neonates and children through the age of two.


Program Details

Plan of Study

Year One

  • Summer:
    • NURS 6230: Embryology & Pathophysiology of the Neonate (2 credits)
    • NURS 6352: Neonatal Pharmacotherapeutics (2 credits)
  • Fall:
    • NURS 7030: Neonatal Management I: Common Neonatal Conditions (3 credits)
    • NURS 6340: Advanced Neonatal Assessment, Diagnostics and Procedures (2 credits)
  • Spring:
    • NURS 7230: Neonatal Management II: The High-Risk Infant (3 credits)
    • NURS 7215: Neonatal Clinical I (1 credit)

Year Two

  • Summer:
    • NURS 7430: Neonatal Management III: Complex Conditions of the Neonate (3 credits)
    • NURS 8015: Neonatal Clinical II (3 credits)
  • Fall:
    • NURS 8215: Neonatal Clinical III (3 credits)
  • Spring:
    • NURS 8315: Neonatal Clinical IV (2 credits)

*9 credits of clinical = 810 hours. We can accept precepted clinical hours from a previous APRN program towards NNP certificate through our Gap Analysis Process. Work with the NNP option coordinator to complete this process upon admission.
