Overview
St. Catherine University offers a bachelor's degree in respiratory care, one of the few schools in Minnesota to do so. This program prepares students to identify, treat, and manage patients with pulmonary disorders.
Program Details
- Clinical Experiences: Students complete approximately 900 hours of clinical work in various settings, including neonatal, pediatric, and rehabilitation units.
- Skills and Knowledge: Students develop the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in a career in respiratory care, network with professionals in the field, and gain experience in different settings.
- Credentialing Examinations: Graduates are eligible to take the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialing examinations. Upon passing, they receive a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential, which allows them to apply to the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice to work as a licensed respiratory therapist in the state.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credential: Students receiving a high threshold passing score can take the second board exam, the Clinical Simulation Exam (CSE), and upon passing, are awarded the RRT credential.
