General Entry Requirements

You are normally expected to have successfully completed an honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and have appropriate work experience. You may be required to attend an interview and/or provide a portfolio of work.


Additional Criteria

  • Candidates must attend an interview
  • If English is not your first language you will need to complete a Secure English Language Test at IELTS 6.0 or equivalent with no band less than 5.5

Aims of the Programme

The principal aims of the programme are to:


  • enable graduates with a background in networking, system administration or cloud computing to gain a deeper understanding of security and operations of computer systems.
  • ensure students have access and exposure to the latest methodologies and development techniques.
  • develop an understanding of enabling technologies such as computer operating systems, virtualisation and networking that can be used in innovative ways to deliver distributed and reliable computing solutions.
  • apply appropriate design methodologies so that computer applications can be packaged and delivered efficiently using the cloud model.
  • equip students to adapt and learn new skills as the computer industry evolves throughout their careers.
  • enhance essential skills such as group working, report writing and research skills.
  • equip students with the knowledge necessary to understand the ethical and environmental issues they will encounter in industry in general.
  • develop sophisticated intellectual capabilities of research, critique, synthesis and innovation culminating in a masters level dissertation.
