About this programme

This accelerated Access course is designed to support and guide your successful transition into the University of Gibraltar undergraduate nursing programme, by providing you with the foundation of academic skills and knowledge needed to springboard your academic journey.


Successful completion of this Access course will provide you with the necessary entry requirements to apply for the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing programme at the University of Gibraltar.


Face to face teaching

We are committed to providing an excellent learning experience that is personal and participative.


This is why the Access to Healthcare course will be delivered face to face over a 6-month period hrs every Tuesday evening from mid-January to end of July) and will be presented by the lecturing team of the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing programme who will be able to guide and support you in your professional and personal development.


The Access course is also delivered using Canvas, our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), this enables a blended approach to your teaching and learning experience.

  • Introduction to Health and Social Care

Assessments

There are a variety of assessments used as part of this access course. These include:


  • Online exams
  • Reflective pieces
  • Portfolio
  • Personal development plan
  • Peer presentations
  • Poster presentations
  • Abstracts
  • Essay
  • Numeracy exam

Support for these assessments will be available in the form of group and personal tutorials.


Entry Requirements

Typically, all applicants should have:


  • 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths (or equivalent);
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate your ideas effectively in discussions, presentations and writing;
  • Basic IT skills, such as word-processing, email and Internet.

Individuals who do not meet the above criteria are encouraged to apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Barzilai Foundation Scholarship

The Barzilai Foundation Scholarship is designed to provide educational access for high-potential students who are unable to fully fund their studies through other scholarships or their own finances. The scholarship is available for deserving students enrolling in select programmes, who will need to explain their financial need and demonstrate appropriate evidence as part of their application.


Students enrolled in the Access to Healthcare programme may be eligible.


This Scholarship covers the remaining tuition fees after all other grants, scholarships, and discounts have been applied. It can be renewed for the duration of your programme, provided you maintain your enrolment and achieve satisfactory academic progress.


Students will have 30 days from receipt of a University offer to apply for a scholarship and they will need to complete the relevant scholarship application forms (via request from our admissions team) and provide evidence of financial need and other extenuating circumstances.
