About this course
This accelerated access course is designed to assist your successful transition on to a University of Gibraltar undergraduate business programme. This pathway will provide you with the foundation of academic skills and knowledge needed to springboard your academic journey. Successful completion of this Access course will provide you with the necessary entry requirements to apply for the Bachelor of Business Administration programme. The Access course will be commencing on Monday 20th of January 2025 and will end during the week of 5th of May 2025.
Face to face teaching
We are committed to providing an excellent learning experience that is personal and participative. This is why the Access to Business course will be delivered face to face over a 16 week period and will be delivered by the School of Business lecturing team who will be able to guide and support you in your professional and personal development.
Modules
Year 1
- Introduction to Business This module introduces you to different aspects of business including business organisations, marketing, management, economics, finance and accounting.
- Academic Skills for Higher Education This module is designed to develop generic and transferable academic skills to support your study enabling you to be confident, independent critical thinkers and reflective learners.
- Introduction to Business Maths This module provides you with an introduction to the basic mathematical concepts that are required to succeed in a business context, particularly in the areas of finance and data analysis. You will be also be introduced to the functions of Microsoft Excel which will assist you in these areas.
Assessments
There are a variety of assessments which include:
- Poster presentations
- Reports
- Exam
You will receive guidance on the assessment requirements from the course tutor.

Entry Requirements
Typically candidates will have:
- 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths (or equivalent);
- Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate your ideas effectively in discussions, presentations and writing;
- Basic IT skills, such as word-processing, email and Internet.
English language requirements:
An overall IELTS test result of 6.5, including a minimum of 6.0 in all sub-tests.
Equivalent awards will be considered (e.g. Pearson’s Test of English, Cambridge English B2 First, Duolingo English Test, City & Guilds International ESOL 8984, or the TOEFL- IBT test of English proficiency).
Individuals who do not meet the above criteria are encouraged to apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
