About this programme
The Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) is a practically orientated degree, designed to provide students with a grounding in all key aspects of business; including, the development of leadership skills, critical thinking and decision-making.
At the end of the first year, students will be asked to select their preferred major:
- Accounting and Finance
- Management and Marketing
Throughout the 3-year degree, students will be provided with opportunities to apply the knowledge they develop in-class to real-world environments, in the form of internships (referred to as ‘work placements’ in the programme specification) relevant to their choice of major.
This degree is offered on a full-time (3-years) and part-time (6-years) basis.
Choose your major
Students have until the end of their first year to choose their preferred major. This gives them the opportunity to develop an understanding of all key aspects of business before selecting their preferred option.
Accounting and Finance
The ‘Accounting and Finance’ major is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in financial management, accounting principles, and investment analysis. Students will learn how to analyse financial data, prepare financial statements, and develop investment strategies that maximise returns while minimising risk. Graduates who choose this major can pursue careers in accounting, financial analysis, investment banking, corporate finance, and other related fields. With their combined skills in accounting and finance, graduates are well-equipped to take on leadership roles in the business world and help organisations make informed financial decisions.
Management and Marketing
The ‘Management and Marketing’ major will provide students with a strong foundation in leadership, communication, problem-solving, and critical analysis. Students will also learn how to effectively manage diverse teams, conduct market research, and create marketing strategies/campaigns that meet the needs of varied audiences. Graduates who choose this major can pursue careers in advertising, marketing, brand management, sales, public relations, and other related fields. With their combined skills in management and marketing, graduates are well-equipped to take on leadership roles in various industries.
Professional Exemptions
The University of Gibraltar’s BBA programme is recognised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (“ACCA”) as an accredited programme. Those who major in accounting and finance and decide to pursue their professional accounting qualification with the ACCA will be able to obtain a number of exemptions from the applied knowledge and applied skills level of exams.
The University of Gibraltar has been granted Partner in Learning status by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (“ICAEW)”. Those who major in accounting and finance and who decide to pursue their professional accounting qualification with the ICAEW will therefore be able to obtain a number of exemptions from both the certificate level and professional level of exams.

The full-time BBA (Hons) is a three-year programme that typically requires a commitment of sixteen hours class time a week. Internship with Employability Skills
In the first year, students will undertake a project on an active trading organisation, where they will get the opportunity to apply their knowledge to develop a plan and recommendations, which will then be presented to the organisation. During the second and third years, students will complete internships with Gibraltar-based companies. The internships are related to their choice of major, and are designed to assist students in building their levels of employability and commitment to continuing professional development.

Entry Requirements
Typically candidates will have:
- BCC at ‘A level’ (104 UCAS) points or international equivalent
- 5 GCSE’s grade 4 or above (A*– C pre 2017) including English Language and Mathematics (or international equivalent).
- Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate their ideas effectively in discussions, presentations and writing.
- Basic IT skills, such as word-processing, email and Internet.
English Language Requirements
- An overall IELTS test result of 6.5, including a minimum of 6.0 in all sub-tests. Equivalent awards will be considered (e.g. Pearson’s Test of English, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English, Duolingo English Test, City & Guilds International ESOL 8984, or the TOEFL- IBT test of English proficiency). If students do not meet the entry requirements, they can still apply as the University will consider their application.
