Admission Requirements

High School Student from Canada

  • Portfolio that includes three samples of video, audio, or image samples. Videos must be 5-minutes in total.
  • A clear statement of interest.
  • A cumulative GPA of 75% or above.
  • Three letters of recommendation.
  • Transcripts of all university and/or college-level work. Normally, successful applicants will have an Honours BA in Media Arts or Film Production, or a cognate discipline. Students who do not meet this requirement may be admitted to the Faculty of Graduate Studies in a qualifying (M1) program.

High School Student from Outside Canada and the United States (International)

  • Portfolio that includes three samples of video, audio, or image samples. Videos must be 5-minutes in total.
  • A clear statement of interest.
  • A cumulative GPA of 75% or above.
  • Three letters of recommendation.
  • Any student whose native language is not English, or did not receive a degree from a North American University or any countries listed on the exemption list, must achieve a satisfactory score on one of the following tests: IELTS 7, TOEFL 100, Pearson 69.*
  • Transcripts of all university and/or college-level work. Normally, successful applicants will have an Honours BA in Media Arts or Film Production, or a cognate discipline. Students who do not meet this requirement may be admitted to the Faculty of Graduate Studies in a qualifying (M1) program.

*English language improvement programs are available if you require extra training prior to entry into the academic program, or have received lower-than-required test scores.
