Please note: Foundation years can only be studied full-time. However, you can transfer to part-time delivery once you have completed your foundation year. Please apply to the full-time option if you wish to study in this way.
Creative Enterprise MA
Overview
Our dynamic, multi-disciplinary Creative Enterprise postgraduate course is designed for anyone looking to apply their creative specialism, whether freelance or as their own business. Suitable creative industries include, film, interior design, music performance, photography, journalism, advertising, fashion design, fashion marketing, fashion textiles, graphic design, animation, illustration CGI and games development. Those working in digital creative Industries will benefit just as much from the programme’s resources.
This course uniquely reflects the changing nature of creative industries, where innovation comes from disruption, and bringing together the different creative disciplines helps identify solutions and create new opportunities. As a Creative Enterprise postgraduate student, you will enhance your skillsets by developing entrepreneurial skills to commercialise your creative practice. You’ll gain knowledge and learn how to balance creativity and commerciality, and develop a portfolio of commercial work appropriate to your particular industry.
This multi-disciplinary Creative Enterprise postgraduate course brings together creatives from a huge number of disciplines. This kind of exposure to different views and experiences is only possible when people come together to share and learn. This increased knowledge and skillset supports entrepreneurial endeavours, innovation and collaborative working across the creative and cultural industries, including the digital creative industries.
The programme is developed and delivered by professional creative industry experts. It remains relevant to the constant changes in the global creative industries and prepares the students to enter their chosen field with confidence. The programme will be taught in blended on-line and traditional forms including individual tutorials, lectures, seminars, industry talks and visits as well as incorporating self-directed study. Following the programme, many students choose to freelance or set up their own business, and connect with the UEL Creatives Agency for future opportunities.

Entry Requirements
- Academic requirements: Bachelor's degree with minimum Second Class (2:2) or equivalent with evidenced knowledge of the creative industries.
- International Qualifications: We accept a wide range of European and international qualifications in addition to A-levels, the International Baccalaureate and BTEC qualifications.
- English Language requirements: Overall IELTS 6.0 with minimum 6.0 in writing and speaking, and 5.5 in listening and reading (or recognised equivalent)
Fees, funding and additional costs
- Fees: EU, EEA and Swiss Nationals starting a course from September 2021, will no longer be eligible for Home fees. However, such nationals benefitting from Settled Status or Citizens' Rights may become eligible for Home fees as and when the UK Government confirms any new fee regulations.
- Funding: Postgraduate Loans Scheme, Postgraduate Scholarship, Alumni Discount, Early Payment Discount, Asylum Seekers scholarship, Civic Engagement, Hardship Bursary, Sport Scholarships
- Additional costs: Depending on the programme of study, there may be extra costs which are not covered by tuition fees, which students will need to consider when planning their studies.
Course modules
- Working in the Creative Industries Core Module: This module will explore the full spectrum of the creative industries and analyse the opportunities in the sector to develop a career from existing creative practice or discover new career options, collaborations, or partnerships.
- Investigating Media and Communication Industries Core Module: This module examines the media and creative industries and explores their organisation and institutional arrangements, their media forms, products and services, work practices and cultures, as well as their convergence, hybridisation and transformation.
- Developing a Creative Business Core Module: This module will equip you with the knowledge and skills to launch your own business in the Creative Industries.
- Research Methods in Creative Practice Core Module: The Research Methods in Creative Practice module will introduce practice-as-research as key methodology for working towards your final MA project.
- Strategic Thinking and Leadership Core Module: This module has been designed to develop and enhance strategic business leadership and management skills to prepare for a career in the creative industries.
- Project Platform Core Module: This module is provided for you to create an innovative practice-based performance/project work for an industry facing/community facing showcase.

How you'll learn
The Creative Enterprise programme is taught by a team of experienced tutors who are all industry experts in their own rights, resulting in our teaching always being dynamic, innovative and fresh.
How you'll be assessed
The programme uses a range of formative and summative assessment methods to support the development of and reflection on learning. Each module is assessed separately and there is typically one assessment submission for each taught module, therefore three assessments in each term.

Our waterfront campus in the historic Royal Docks provides a modern, well-equipped learning environment. Join us and you'll be able to make the most of our facilities including contemporary lecture theatres and seminar rooms, art studios and exhibition spaces, audio and visual labs and a multimedia production centre.
