Education by Distance Learning MA
Overview
Our well-established Distance Learning MA Education course is about extending your understanding of teaching theory and practice. This new distance learning course is designed for those who are teaching or are spending a significant part of each week supporting teaching and learning. It aims to have a direct impact on your teaching approaches and help you to become a more rounded, reflective practitioner. The course focuses on the key educational processes that underpin learning, teaching, and the positive management of change. You will develop your understanding of current policy, theory, and research and consider how these relate to your day-to-day practice.

Entry Requirements
Academic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with minimum Second Class (2:2) or equivalent in an Education related subject or Upper Second Class (2:1) if subject not Education related.
International Qualifications
- We accept a wide range of European and international qualifications in addition to A-levels, the International Baccalaureate and BTEC qualifications.
English Language Requirements
- Overall IELTS 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in Writing, Speaking, Reading and Listening.
Mature Applicants and Those Without Formal Qualifications
- As an inclusive university, we recognise those who have been out of education for some time may not have the formal qualifications usually required.

- EU, EEA and Swiss Nationals starting a course from September 2021, will no longer be eligible for Home fees.

- Investigate the theory relating to creativity and imagination, focusing on its implication to education and people’s lives.
- Culture and Diversity Core Module
- Familiarise you with legislation and current research on equal opportunities in education and analyse inequalities in your educational context.
- Education Policy in Practice Core Module
- Critically analyse current education policy globally and consider its potential implications for local country contexts.
- Mentoring and Coaching in Education: the mentor as an agent for change Core Module
- Support the development of a meaningful understanding of theory, models, purposes and practices of mentoring and/or coaching within an educational context.
- Applied Research in Education Core Module
- Demonstrate your skills to undertake a small-scale independent research project of 14,000 words in an area of interest.
